In addition to leading tours and representing the student experience, Ambassadors also serve as content creators—assisting with the development of marketing materials for social media, web, and print—to promote the campus community and student life to prospective students and their families.Job Responsibilities:Lead individual and group campus tours—both virtually and in person—for prospective students, families, visiting schools, and campus guests.Serve as a knowledgeable representative of Cal State Channel Islands (CSUCI), sharing accurate and engaging information with prospective students, families, and the broader community.Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, faculty, and visitors in person, over the phone, through live chat, virtual meetings, and email.Staff the Welcome Center front counter to greet and direct campus guests, answer general inquiries, and provide a welcoming first impression.Maintain a broad understanding of the university's academic programs, student services, and campus life in order to effectively support campus tours and respond to visitor questions.Assist with the preparation, setup, and breakdown of events and campus tours, which may include transporting and arranging materials, signage, and equipment.Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds as needed for event and tour support.Support student recruitment efforts through social media engagement, virtual chat rooms, phone campaigns, and presentations.Complete administrative and office tasks such as answering phones, responding to live chats, managing mailings, maintaining files, organizing the recruitment presentation room and reception area, and supporting outreach campaigns.Perform clerical duties including data entry (Microsoft Office, Excel), word processing, emailing, copying, preparing forms, and assembling materials for distribution.Contribute to the creation of content for social media, email campaigns, the university website, and videos to promote CSUCI to prospective students and families. Assist with the planning, staffing, and execution of special events, workshops, tours, and virtual programs.Collaborate with fellow Student Ambassadors on assignments, outreach efforts, and event support.Participate in weekly training and team meetings (held virtually or in-person, as appropriate) with the supervisor.Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of Enrollment Management and student recruitment. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:This position requires a dependable and adaptable individual who can work effectively in various settings under direct supervision. Student Ambassadors must be self-motivated, outgoing, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. They should be flexible and comfortable engaging with a diverse population, including students, faculty, staff, and members of the community.Qualified candidates will demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills, along with a positive and professional attitude. After completing training, Student Ambassadors will be expected to lead campus tours, deliver presentations about the university, and assist prospective students with questions related to campus life and the admissions process.Additional requirements include proficiency with computers and a solid working knowledge of word processing software. Candidates must be currently enrolled at CSUCI, in good academic standing, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.This role requires availability for frequent weekend shifts, as well as during winter and summer breaks. Ambassadors must be able to commit to at least one day per week for training and weekly meetings and must be flexible in their scheduling to accommodate events and departmental needs. Preference will be given to candidates who are available to work year-round—including during summer and winter sessions—and can commit to the position for at least one year. All responsibilities will be performed in person.
